Behind the music

LEIF ARNESON IS FROM HERE TO SIDNEY

Ever since his discovery of music, Leif Arneson has always wanted to have something released himself. From Here To Sidney was born in late 2015 and Leif has worked hard to make it what it has become. Besides being a one man folk project, it is also an outlet for Leif's creative being inside of him.

HOW DO I CONTACT LEIF TO SAY HELLO, ASK A QUESTION, ETC.

Since everything about my music goes through me, you can contact me to ask me a question about basically anything. I may not be able to meet you in person though! For any general questions and hello's, and questions for booking or management, you can email me at fromheretosidney@gmail.com .

IS FROM HERE TO SIDNEY STILL ACTIVE? WHEN IS THERE NEW MUSIC COMING OUT?

Hey there! I just recently released my debut LP, Songs Of Lands End, in August 2017. You can find it on the music tab of this page. To answer your other question, From Here To Sidney is active at its fullest. There is some new music in the works, and more on this will be said in 2018. But for now, let's just say that there will be some of the greatest music ever to come out of From Here To Sidney!

DOES LEIF EVER PLAY SHOWS? DOES HE SELL CDS OR VINYL?

Honestly, I rarely ever play live. Occasionally I will play open mic shows, in which case I will post on my Facebook page saying I am going to be playing there. Most of the time I play at the Surly Mermaid Bar in Sidney, BC (makes sense). Unfortunately none of my albums are on CD or Vinyl, I hope to somehow make this a possibility in the future. There was a limited CD run of the second From Here To Sidney EP, and there was only 25 copies made and I sold them through Bandcamp. As I am writing this, there is about 2 copies sitting in my dresser drawer, but for the most of it they are all sold out. If you send me an email, then I could possibly send one out free of charge? You can buy my albums digitally online or listen to them on Spotify, etc. My new album will be on CD when it comes out next year.

WATCH NOW

On a family vacation came the thought in mind, a From Here To Sidney music video. Shot and filmed by Leif himself in a variety of places, it should be pretty fun to watch!

Bio

Leif grew up in Saanichton BC as a young boy with many gifts. Despite his medical disorders, he continued on to find out what GarageBand was at the age of five on his parents' iMac, which is the one he still uses today to record on. He experimented with the loop libraries and built in microphone and of course: made completely horrible, terrible music. It was about 5 years later that this horrible, terrible music thing made a drastic change. Leif's sister had made friends over the years at their parents new house just down the road after they had moved from the suite above a shop that Leif grew up in. His sister's friends had a father who would go on to influence Leif's music making drastically. One day, her friend came to the door with a Fender Nashville Power Tele and gave it to Leif, which he practiced on for a couple years and still records with today. Leif eventually got guitar lessons from Mike Preston down at the Brentwood School of Music, but mostly taught himself how to play. After some time of trying out recording, Leif decided to start a long but humble career in music by creating a one-man acoustic folk project, From Here To Sidney, named after the town he loved most on the island. He released the "Airliner" EP with Leafing Music, which was embraced by his family and encouraged him to keep on making more. Leif now resides in beautiful Saanichton, BC with his parents, sister and their dog Neelah and has a home recording setup in his bedroom where he is currently recording the follow-up to his two 2017 releases, titled "Elevations". He hopes you will enjoy every bit of his music as much as he enjoys making it.
